Danny Cook of Wooldridge Goes to Alaska for Vacation

Everyone needs some down time to get away and unwind. When that time comes for Danny Cook of Wooldridge Boats, you can bet he will be traveling somewhere in search of the finest finned creatures. Another words, he's a fishing fanatic that breathes, eats, sleeps and thinks fishing all the time! Although he can often be found chasing salmon and steelhead out of his 23' Wooldridge Alaskan XL, some places cannot be accessed from his boat especially remote Alaskan towns like Yakutat where the only option is flying in! This trip was spent with friend and outdoor writer Dave Vedder. What a blast! Here are some highlights his vacation in Yakutat!

Arrival in Yakutat was a winter wonderland. Seattle temperature that day was 75 degrees.

First day fishing the Situk River and the first hook up.

Not bad to start out with.

Another dandy steelhead couldn't resist the float and jig set-up.

Dave Vedder with a beautiful bright "buck" steelhead!

Dave releasing a Situk steelhead.

Danny releasing a Situk steelhead!

A detailed close up from a bright female steelhead.

Another close-up of sea lice on the steelhead's tail indicating only hours from the saltwater!

Even the rainbow trout joined in the fun.

Since the trout were in on the fun, why not the eagles too! Notice the steelhead about to be "taloned"!

Time to head out to the salt chuck. The scenery in Yakutat is spectacular and so is the harbor.

A whopping 171 pounds to start the day!

Dave with a nice ling cod. If you look closely, you can see a cruise ship in behind the fish.

Danny with a nice ling! This one was sent back to make more big ones.

Even a wolf eel wanted to climb aboard. It was released of course.

The days catch. What a day it was!
